Start following path n° 5. Leave your car at the parking area near the Park in San Giovanni.
(Two kilometers from the historical centre of Bellagio;can also be reached by bus – C30 Como and just in summer by boat) Cross the centre of the hamlet San Giovanni, where we recommend you to visit the Church and the Church square where you can admire the lake and enjoy the view.
From the Church square take the road uphill to the right of the restaurant Ittiturismo Mella.
After about 200 m, near a nineteenth-century crucifix unfortunately in a poor state of repair, turn right into Via al Crotto. Go ahead and after crossing a bridge, take the trail uphill.
Once on the provincial road Bellagio - Como, cross the road, keep to the right and follow the stairs to Via per Vergonese. When you arrive at the church of Vergonese, continue through the houses of the village. Take the trail uphill between two stone walls, which climbs into the Brogno valley through woods and bushes up to the dirt road that leads to i Mulini del Perlo (track 1) Turn right along the dirt road to the houses of Brogno.
From this point in 20 minutes you’ll get to Chevrio, from which you can go back to Bellagio through path 3 - passing by Visgnola. In order to reach the Monte Nuvolone and the top of Monte s. Primo, take now ( following trail n° 39) the first road on the right and continue until you find on the left a fence stake before a gate. Take the path on the left that leads into the forest and keep walking paying attention to the white- red signs. After a steep stretch of trail you will get into a clearing where you can admire one of the most beautiful views of Lake Como, you have finally arrived at the Belvedere del Nuvolone. (The peak of Monte Nuvolone is just 10 minutes away) Keeping on the left - east side, the path, after crossing a few clearings, goes down between very easy rocks, leading to the Bocchetta di Lezzeno, (in a cave you will find "The Madonna dei Fungiat") After the Bocchetta del Nuvolone (939 m) keep walking along the crest of the mountain.
(Ignoring both the right path that goes down to Lezzeno and the one on the left leading to path n. 1) Trail n° 39 continues keeping on the crest and passing woods, clearings and houses of Colmenetta, and, after the Monte Fopa (1116 m), always on the crest taking on the right, arrives at Rifugio Martina. From Rifugio Martina you can reach the top of Monte San Primo through a path in part rough and steep.
(From the top of Monte San Primo you will be able to admire one of the most beautiful views that, on clear days, covers from Monviso,to Monte Rosa, the Jungfrau, the Rhaetian Alps and Lombard Prealps.) Now you can follow down the south - east trail which leads to the Bocchetta di Terrabiotta where the trail meets path N. 1. (Go down on th left if you want to reach the park of Monte San Primo or go straight if you waould like to follow the “Dorsale del Traingolo Lariano” to Brunate)
